They're Coming . . .

Hope you all had a fun-filled, candy-overloaded Halloween! Halloween was officially over here at our house Sunday. Took me all day to take down and pack up all the spooky, wicked decor. We had a record low (just 3 kids!) for Trick-or-Treaters this year. We've been getting fewer and fewer every year. Our neighborhood kids are growing up, and not many people move from this neighborhood, so not a lot of little kids running around anymore. That, and it was a rainy, yucky night.

The reveal of my version of the sophisticated pumpkin is almost here. I know you're all waiting with bated breath! ;o) Just have to stop by the local pumpkin farm on my way home from getting my permanent crown to see if they have any dismembered gourd stems laying around. Also, I couldn't find the pretty antique velvet leaves that were used on the inspiration pumpkins, and I don't want to search all over the net, and wait for them to arrive two days before T'giving. So I'm improvising with what I could find.

(oh, I wish the crown I referred to above
was one of these pretty babies . . . but no,
it would be the other, less fanciful crown affixed
atop an ailing tooth)

Below is a sneak peak at the pumpkins. I believe the kits sold by Olive Juice & Co. used some sort of dry beans. As is usually the case with me, I was in the mood to get started on them right away last night without having all the proper supplies, and without having dry beans I used plain old fiber fill. I may stop and pick up some beans today to finish them so I'll have some puffy, full pumpkins and some lumpy, droopy ones as well.

Check back to see the finished product. And I'm going to post pics and get advice and comments on my first problem room. It's going to be hard, I'll tell you, as I HATE this particular room, and it's been a thorn in my side for years.

On a personal note, I had a very, very bad day yesterday. I realized I somehow lost my engagement ring. It had me in tears several times throughout the evening realizing it might be gone forever, and trying to figure out just how I could have misplaced it. It's so odd. All my other rings were right there on my little glass ring holder thingy on my dresser, but the diamond solitare was gone. It's as if it vanished into thin air. I'm brokenhearted. It almost feels like there's been a death in the family. Anyway, let's keep our fingers crossed it surfaces somewhere.
I hope.

Your pumpkins look like they are going to be darling! I have bought several from Ramona at A Day in the Life of Ramona and she always uses buckwheat hulls. It gives them a crunchy (beanbag) sort of feel to them and I LOVE them!

I do hope you have just misplaced your ring and it shows up QUICKLY! That would be upsetting! Hope you find it and your day gets better.♥

Carla, I can't wait to see the finished pumpkins, I love the weight and feel of beans for stuffing.

Not sure if I can help with your problem room, I'm afraid I have a few of my own, but I'm always up for a challenge.

I hope your find your ring finds it way back to you, I can understand the heartbreak.

Carla, I am soooo sorry about your ring. I lost a bracelet (valued at $7,000) for over a year, along with a pearl necklace & several gold pieces. I looked and looked and prayed alot! Two years went by and I found them in the garage, in a box labeled garage sale! It did not have ANY sentimental value that your ring has but it was on my mind all the time. "Where did it go? Did someone come in and steal it? Who? Where?" I went through the whole routine until I finally found them.
I will be praying that you will find it. I know how important it is to you.
Thank you dear girl for taking the time to leave such a sweet comment on my Christmas stars. It ment alot to me but even more so since I read your post.
Happy hunting. Don't throw out any trash. Drink a hot cup of tea or a glass of wine & restep your moves.
Let us know when you find the ring.
Sharon
