Hippity Hoppity Easter's on it's way!

In only 2-1/2 weeks.  Can you believe it?!

So, naturally, I had put a few Eastery do-dads here and there.  A little late, I guess, by blogdom time, but the house needed some Eastery/springy freshness for sure.

A cute, easy sparkly egg garland made using those glittery eggs on a stick from the DT.
Super quick.  Super easy.   Super cute!

Now, I know you've seen these guys at lots and lots of blogs, but they're so darn sweet!
From Pier 1 they are, and I bought the tubby one on the right last year.

I was pleased to see Pier 1 had them again this year, so I couldn't resist adding to the family by snagging up "dad", on the left, and that cute little baby bunny there in the middle.

Of course, Eastering up the place wouldn't be complete without tossing around the fabric carrots I made last year.

I debuted them last year in this blog entry.

And in case you'd like to knock out a bushel of your own fresh fabric carrots, Clare, from
generously shared a  tutorial for you to make your very own.

Can I just say, when I purchased those vases below at Ikea a couple years ago, I used I would bought a case!  They were so cheap.  Maybe $1.99 a piece, if that.  They may have been only $0.99.  Anyway, I think they sold out of them a while back.
I just love 'em!!!

I even had someone email some months ago because she was searching for them for her wedding centerpieces, Googled them, and my blog came up and she offered to buy them from me double what I paid! I know . . . how mean.  I should have sold them to her.  But then I'd have none!

I just love that vintage Easter postcard.  What a work of art.
The snowdrop flowers really convey an Eastery/springy feeling.

That WalMart BH&G fall tray being put to good use again.  I always feel like I have to ground tablescapes with either a tray, a mini quilt, a platter . . . something.  Is that weird?  Maybe it's a bit of that OCD I think I have showing up! LOL  A feeling that I have to compartmentalize everything.

Another Pier 1 purchase that's been seen all over blogdom in many forms,
the moss bunny on a stick.

I obviously wasn't nearly as creative as so many others.  Rather boring, actually.  How uninspired is it just sticking that guy in a potted plant?
I think he's cute in there anyway!

And I just love how this pot has become all craggily and pitted.  Not sure how that happened.  Probably from the weather, I guess, but I think it looks neat.

Inspirational faux stones.  I showed you how to make your own in this blog entry.

Quick way to dress up a boring pillar candle.  A faux stone and some jute twine.  How simple is that?

Before we know it, we'll all be showing off our fun 4th of July goodies!  :o)

A Little Fallishness

I finally started to get my fall groove on.  Let me tell ya, it was hard for me to give up summer.  Although, it is still officially summer until this Friday, it's finally started feeling like fall 'round here lately with the cool temps.

Love these "frosty" acorn fillers I grabbed up at JoAnn's.

I guess I just wasn't ready to give up the lazy days of summer.  Or at least the idea of the lazy days of summer.  Which is odd for me, because fall is one of my favorite seasons.  And with fallish accents popping up all over . . . the blogisphere, department stores, magazine covers, etc., I realized I'd better get busy, or before I knew it I'd be digging through the Christmas bins!

Last week I drug down from the attic a plethora of boxes and containers housing all the fall and Halloween decor.  And they sat in the spare bedroom for days.  Well, I finally dug in and drug out the fallish stuff, leaving the Halloweeny for the first of October.

What a process!  It takes me days to change the seasonal decor around the house.  Is it like that for you?  Am I too picky on creating vignettes?  Am I simply lacking a certain amount of creativity?  Or do I just have too much stuff to work with?  I dunno.  Whatever is my problem, I did finally manage to fallify the decor a bit.

So, I started in the kitchen.  In the "dead area" of the kitchen peninsula where I usually create my seasonal vignettes, I added some fall color.

A little mini log cabin quilt I made years ago is a good anchor with it's fall colors.  The wood ~ I think? ~ chargers are from Walmart and the vase was clearance item from JoAnn's ~ $2.97.   A little burlap, jute twine and rusty metal leaves hides an ugly candle label.

I bet some of you recognize the glass hurricane and candle inside below.  Yup.  They're treasures from the Dollar Tree.

The kitchen table got a new look too.  It was time to change out the sand and shells centerpiece.

The tray matches those charger plates from Walmart.  Another itty bitty quilt, called a "candle pad" was created a long time ago from scraps from another quilt.  Those yellow, bakelight steak knives were given to me by my mother.  I remember using them at dinner time when I was kid.  I love having stuff like that around . . . things that were around the house when I was growing up and were used daily.

A close up of the cute little quilt.  I should make a few more.  It's so darn cute!

More of the frosty acorns.

Over on the hutch, I have my harvest girl.  She's really the only "Thanksgivingly" accents I have.  I guess that's probably because by the time Halloween's over, I'm gearing up into Christmas mode.

The serving piece below is one I just love.  It was an Ebay find, and it's part of my Stangl Pottery collection {I posted more of my collection here.}.  The colors are perfect for fall.

So sorry for some of the blur, my batteries were wearing down in the camera.

My Pottery Barn knockoff felt leaf garland.  Mmmm, maybe I'll make another one of them too.

Some fall fell into the family room too.  Say that five times fast! LOL

As you can see, I'm really getting good use out of those frosty acorns!

One of my mushy velvet pumpkins from a couple years ago.

And there's a couple more.

One of my favorite little Autumn wall quilts.  I like to use quilting straight pins to hang seasonal quilts on the wall.  They hold the quilts up securely, and know one ever notices those teeny, tiny holes lift by the pins when they come down.

Sadly, we don't have a fireplace, so I try to treat my fabulous, rustic bookcase in the family like a "mantel".

Inexpensive pumpkins from JoAnn's on spray painted Dollar Tree pedestal thingys.  And that clock face back there?  Well, somehow the hands got all bent up and the clock wouldn't work, but I couldn't bare to through it away.  There was something about the face of it I just loved.  It makes a nice backdrop.

Hopefully I'll get some Autumn accents in the living room before it's time for Christmas.  That'll probably take me until the end of the week to accomplish!  How much have y'all done to fallify your homes?

WINTRY VIGNETTES

Good Saturday morning, everyone.

We woke to snow falling here.  A new layer of fresh snow on top of the dusting we received yesterday morning.

I've got my coffee "bucket" filled, and I'm going to do some much overdo catching up on some of my favorite blogs.

I have to add a little "disclaimer" here about this batch of photos.  Some are quite blurry partly because my batteries were low and partly because my eyes are getting so bad I really need to start putting on my specs when taking photos.  Of course, I don't notice the blurriness until after I dump them on the computer.  So, I'm apologizing in advance for the blur!

love this little plate.  the colors, the snowflake ~ so cute.

Well, our fightin' Blue Hens didn't fight quite hard enough last night.  They lost 19 to 20.  It was a good game to watch, but so sad about the loss.

transferware plate that once
belonged to my grandmother.

dollar tree vase adorned with

dollar tree "silver" tray.

the "snow" in the bottom there is actually epsom salts.
a big carton is super cheap and it makes great "snow"!

love the dollar tree! :o)

I've got a lot on my to-do list ~ as always! But first, I want to take some time the share some wintry vignettes I've created around the house while I've been taking down and packing up Christmas.

the hutch received a wintry update.
i still have plans to paint the back of the hutch ~ it's on "the  list"!
the beautiful sign paula made has found it's home!

super cute little ball ornaments.
found them at the drugstore on after C'mas
clearance.  perfect for winter accents.

I'm almost there . . . with the packing away of Christmas, that is.  I have to organize the area in the basement where the C'mas decor's new home will be, and finish with a few other odds and ends to be packed away.

some more of those cute balls.

the bowl is a new acquisition from my mother.
it was my grandmothers.  that cut glass bowl must
weigh 10 pounds!  It's sooo heavy.

Son No. 1 flies back to school down in North Carolina tomorrow.  :o(  I don't want him to go.  It's been so, so nice having him home these past, almost, four weeks.  He'll be back the beginning of April for Spring Break.  I guess I can hold out till then.

the bookcase in the family room got a little makeover too.
i really want to paint the back of this as well,

but hubby warned me NOT to touch it!
he loves this piece of furniture AS IS!

some how i've manage to accumulate a bit of this green glass.
some pieces were my mother's, grandmother's, aunt's

and some were thrift store finds.

Hope you all have a productive, restful, enjoyable Saturday ~ whatever you've got planned, or not planned, have a great day!

a little table temporarily place in my foyer after the big c'mas tree came down,
is home to a collection of bottle brush trees.
mmm, think i need to do something about that cord.
