MY NEW FAVORITE SPRAY PAINT

What on Earth would us frugal domestic goddesses,
thrifty do-it-yourselfers,
and just too-cheap-to-buy-new
types do without glorious spray paint?
We have to be the largest group of consumers purchasing spray paint!

I can be seen quite frequently inside and outside of our garage spray painting something. Like so many of you, my neighbors must wonder what the heck I'm painting all the time! I have cans and cans on a shelf in the garage. Honestly, I kinda like seeing all the colored can tops on lined up on the shelf.
It's purdee!

My favorite color right now is Krylon's Metallic Silver. OMG!!! It's wonderful! And brilliant . . . see, it says so right on the can!

After all the C'mas decor came down, transitioning into Winter, my can of silver spray paint helped to breathe new life into a couple faux evergreen wreathes headed for the trash. They were beat up! I decided to fluff them up as much as possible and just barely spritzed some of the silver paint on them to create a frosty, or snowy effect - like flocking. Added some DT plastic snowflakes and silver C'mas balls, silvery and wintry blue ribbon, and replaced my C'mas door wreathes with the new winter ones. Guess I should have taken some pics, right? You'll just have to imagine in your mind how fabulously they turned out! ;o)

My most current spray paint project were these DT crosses. As you can see, I painted one with the yummy silver, and the other in oil-rubbed bronze.

I also literally rubbed bronze metallic cream paint to the darker one to give it a little more highlight on the raised areas. I will say, though, I'm really liking the
silver one best!

Oh, and here's a little interesting tidbit of info. Out of curiosity, I was searching the web for the origins of spray paint. One of the sources I found states that
Edward H. Seymour
was the inventor of paint in the aerosol can in 1949 . . .
acting on the idea from his wife,
Bonnie.
How 'bout that??? Smart woman!

This once walnut-toned, metal candlestick is another item gleaming
with a new coat of that lovely silver spray paint.

Even Martha realized the wonder and beauty of this silver paint. In the January issue of Living, a tutorial is given on how to create mercury glass vases using the
shiny paint.

Haven't tried this one, but it's on my list. :o)

Thanks for introducing this paint to us, Carla! I like the idea of what you were saying you did with your Christmas decor. The crosses came out nice in both colors!

They say that necessity is the mother of invention. In this case, it was Bonnie! Way to go Bonnie girl!
Love the silver, but the rubbed bronze is my favorite.
Have a great day!

Carla,

They look great. I have been looking all around for oil rubbed bronze paint and finally got the last can at Joann's. Where did you find your's at? I tried both Lowe's and Home Depot and the other craft stores and no luck. Did you see one of your followers did the DT ceramic birds painted them silver and then silver leafed them to look like Mercury Birds way cute and I went and bought everything to do this weekend.
