WEIGH-IN WEDNESDAY SWITCHING GEARS

Yeah . . . I know . . . it's Friday! Life totally got in the way of blogging the last couple days. And when life didn't get in the way, I was just too dang tired.

Well, still no change. Three weeks of supposed weight-watching, and I'm still down only 1 pound. And my clothes don't feel all that different. I think it's time to switch gears. I really thought that by posting my progress, that would keep me focused to really stay committed - knowing that "eyes" were watching. Now I'm wondering if it's doing the opposite. Maybe it's causing me unrealized stress and anxiety, hampering my weight-loss efforts.

Hubby says I do this to myself every year. Put on some pounds over the holidays, and fight getting rid of them until late Spring. He's right. Just seems like this year there's a few more pounds than usual that are making me panic a bit.

Since this "all-out-there-in-your-face" approach isn't working, I've decided to try to stick - as much as I possibly can - to the

I bought the book several years ago, but never followed it. The first two weeks, Phase One, sounds doable. For just two weeks, it cuts quite a bit of sugar and unrefined carbs from your diet, while adding in more lean protein. That's where I think most of my problems lay -carbs and sugar - those nasty little fellas! Annndddd . . . the good Doctor claims you'll loose the belly fat first.
SU-WEET!!!
If it works!

I'm also going to put the reins on Weigh-In Wednesday. Maybe if I don't think about it so much, I'll be more successful. I really can't believe it's so hard to loose just 15 pounds when people are out there loosing scores of weight all the time!
Frustrating!!!

On my bimonthly, large grocery shopping trip yesterday, I grabbed up some of the key ingredients needed for carrying out Phase One of the SBD. I've already warned the family they're in this with me. I really think another one of my big problems is preparing meals for them, checking and tasting the entire time I'm cooking (I'm a BIG taster when I cook!), is adding too many calories to my day. It's either they eat what I cook for the next two weeks, or they're on their own!

So, that's it! I'm done talking about my weight here on my blog . . . for now anyway. I promise to have more "fun and exciting" posts in the next couple days. I'm gearing up to redo our master bedroom, and I'm going to post the ever-so-unattractive before pics and ask for some opinions. Also, I'm still thinking of great giveaway for my 100th post. Stay tuned . . .

Have a great Friday everyone!

Good Morning Carla!
You have such a great attitude about reaching your personal goals!
It is hard to cook meals for a family, and then cook or make something different for yourself, I agree. Us moms always tend to serve our families and worry about their well being, before our own.
I struggle with that too.
I still haven't figured out how to put myself on the list, or even at the top of the list, without feeling guilty. I'm working on it.

Can't wait to see what plans you have for your redo! What color scheme are you thinking of?
It will be great to have a 'new' space!
Have a great day!

Carla, I agree focusing on watching calories all the time stressful. I've never tried the SBD but I've heard a lot of good things about it.

Without trying too sound New Age-ish I wanted to share this ...I have my own little philosophy when I 'm trying to reach a goal... I do a lot of visualization. Without any negative thought (hard to do btw) I see myself already at the goal I want to reach. I imagine what I'm eating, how I'm feeling, and even what clothes I'm wearing. It keeps me positive and changes my whole attitude while I'm working my way to my goal. Maybe you can try this whenever you feel like you are struggling with the plan, it is all about how you rework your mind and stay positive.

You have a great desire to do this and a loving support system that really works in your favor. IMO you should post about your progress whenever you want, mostly when you are having success so we can cheer you on.

Hang in there. I know you can do it!!! Email me anytime if you need an ear. I've heard good things about the SBD too. I think one of the keys is to have the entire family eating healthy. Like you said it's hard to cook one meal for them and then you have to eat something else. HUGS!!!

Carla, you can do it. Why don't you join Jazzercise with me? I love it and I can tell you it really cute out my belly fat. I dropped 20 pounds in my 1st 2 months. My clothes were so baggy in the but and stomache and it is fun. I could also use some motivation to work out with someone becaause I have slacked off this winter-just too cold to leave the house.

Thanks so much to you all for your great words of encouragement. I'm really going to try and incorporate each piece of your advice into my new strategy.

Kerin - you are so right about "us Moms"!!! Sometimes - a lot of times! - I really do forget to put me first. I should really try and work me in a bit more!

Oh, I'm planning on posting later today or tomorrow what my plans are for the bedroom - colors, etc.

Angie - I totally get it. My Mom has always advocated that approach to reaching goals. I think I do that a little, but maybe not as much as necessary. I should definitely do more of that, and less actual calorie counting - not that I'm good at counting calories anyway!

Cindy - Thanks for your offer of support. You've inspired me big once already - starting a blog. Perhaps following your "footsteps" more closely, I can be more inspired and successful in reaching my goal by seeing you reach yours.

Hey Lisa! - You are an inspiration! Getting back into an exercise routine, changing your diet, loosing weight - you should be so proud of yourself. As much as I'd like to hang out more - even if it is working out together! - not sure, for me, Jazzercise is really the answer. I still do cardio 30-40 minutes and weights 3-4 times a week. I truly believe it's what I'm putting in my mouth. wish I hated food!

Hang in there Carla...you'll find what works because you sound so determined. I know alot of people (including this household!) have lost weight miraculously by ditching all soft drinks (soda). I don't know if you drink soda but if so give that a try. It's not an easy thing to do but have faith...you can do it! :)
