GOODIES FROM IKEA

Yesterday was a GREAT shopping day!

We drove up to our closest Ikea Store, South Philly, to finally purchase the chair I've been pining for after the unfortunate demise THE chair. You might remember, the monstrosity I painstaking tried to recover that eventually broke!
GRRRR!!!!!

THE IKEA EKTORP CHAIR WITH FOOTSTOOL
Anyway, I couldn't be more pleased with this chair. It's the Ektorp Chair with matching Ektorp Bromma Footstool. It's really just an occasional chair. It won't get a ton of use ~ at least I don't think so, but it's pretty darn comfy so it just might get LOTS of use! ~
we really just needed it to kind of fill a spot in the family room, and offer at least another seat for when we have company. For the money {$249 for the chair, $99 for the ottoman), you absolutely can't beat it. And the bestest part is the slipcover is totally, and easily removable, machine washable. SuWeet!!!

And check it out . . .

the ottoman top lifts off for storage!
YAY!
No more throw blankets laying all over the furniture OR floor.

See how handles are sewn into to cover of the top of the ottoman to make it easy to lift the top off? Cool!

I also snagged up the cutest little chandelier for my "studio". I've never really liked the ceiling light that was in there, but really didn't want to spend big money on a new light.

And I HAD to have a tiny chandelier. This one at Ikea, fit the bill at just $39. I'm planning to remove the crystal thingys and give the light a coat of white paint.

New placemats {$1.99 each} for the new outside dining set. They match perfectly.

And because Heather shared her purchase of these dishtowels,

I had to have some too! Another bargain - 49 cents a piece. I bought 10, but now I wish I'd bought 10 more! I think they'll be perfect for everyday, casual napkins.

A bundle of four blue differently stripe patterned towels for $2.49. Again, wished I'd grabbed a couple more bundles!

Another great purchase. These "Lenda" curtain panels were $14.99 for the pair!

They measure 55x98 and I got them in the bleached color. They're like a light-weight cotton duck. Very nice.

I'm planning on using them on my bedroom windows. Without going into too much detail in this post, I'm using them on two windows, just flanking the outsides of each along with valances I'm planning to make from fabric purchased ages ago. The look I'm going for is something like the pics below.

Lastly, how could I not buy some yummy Swedish delights while we were there? Those cookies down there are delicious! As you might be able to see, we had to break into the chocolate cream ones, The Ballerinas, and give them a try . . . mmmmmm

A variety of Swiss-made chocolates.

Some yummy Swiss jellies.
Lingonberry, strawberry and blueberry.

I'm thinking I'm definitely going to hit Ikea before Christmas and stock-up on a bunch of the jellies, cookies, chocolates, etc., for gift giving. I think filling a basket lined with one of those simple dishtowels, and adding some of those Swiss treats and extra towels, would make great gifts . . . hostess gifts, quick last minute gifts, teacher's gifts, etc.

It was a good day at Ikea. Although Hubby and Son No. 3 were quite patient while I shopped around, I still felt a teeny bit rushed. I'll have to plan to get up there again with a friend when we can spend more time. It would literally take a good portion of an afternoon to thoroughly get through the entire store.

Thanks for visiting!

Love it. Good Stuff. Counting down the days to my Ikea trip next Friday with friends. Had that chandy in my cart last time but put it back-way cute. The dish towels are great I only bought 2 last time but want to buy more. I'm planning on using them at holidays to wrap food gifts like homemade breads, etc. A mag featured the towels with an iron on done on the printer remind me to share with you.

Going to my Ikea is a planned out trip, too. I really do need to go though and maybe if I consider that I could knock out some Christmas gifts that would help get me going. I have two Ektorp chairs and I love them, Carla! I've had mine for about 15 years now and they are still in great shape. They were never a constant, every day use chair and did wind up in bedrooms, but I've been happy with them.

I have had my eye on the sectional that matches that collection...Love it! I live in Northern Michigan and the closest Ikea is probably 400 miles... So its more like a weekend trip!

I just chuckle when I read others loving Ikea as much as me. LOVE that chair & ottoman!

We have the curtains too(unbleached). Maria has been after me to purchase the chandelier, but we have't yet. Bob loves the lingon berries and we never leave with out a few bars of chocolate. IKEA gets way too much of our $$..lol

Now that's its on my mind I have some Swedish meatballs in the freezer, sounds like dinner.
