I have been on the lookout in Craigslist for months for new counter stools. We've had the same, rickety, swivel stools at our counter for 16 years now, and my boys have really put them to the test over time.
Old Stools
I had 3 stools at one point, but the third got so rickety I just took it out. Well, cause I'm frugal or cheap I've been keeping my eye on Craigslist for stools that I could work with. I found these two, brand new stools for $50!
Oh, and I plan on doing the island (only, we don't have an island - technical it's a peninsula) update with bead board and decorative corbel braces just like my idol, Sarah, at
Future New Fabulous Stools
Gee, think I need to clean up the garage a bit???
First I'll have to cut them down since they're bar stools not counter - that would be a difference of 5 inches. Then I plan to sand them a bit, and paint them back - I think. I'm not 100% sure of the black yet. I think I'll be asking all your advice on that. I do know I don't want wood tone. There's waaayyyy too much "wood" in my home. That, for sure, will be a future post. Lastly, I'll be changing the fabric to match my slider's window valance.
Here's one of the reasons I started this blog. Now that I've put it all out there . . . giving you the ever-teasing "before" photos, and sharing the plans to renovate these stools in the broad public . . . I'm bound to get the project done in a reasonable amount of time. Not a year or two like most of my other furniture projects!
So . . . here it goes . . . my first published "before and after" project. Check back to see the hopefully amazing transformation of these stools.

Carla, my frugal friend, I also do Craigslist. It is all about patience when it comes to finding deals out there. It looks like you did good, they are great stools! I think black is a great choice, can't wait to see the after pictures.
